One couple, two weddings.
As we all know, the Wedding Industry was impacted by COVID severely. All of my couples either, postponed, cancelled or went ahead with a smaller wedding once restrictions lifted slightly. One of my couples who did this was the lovely Abbie & Ben. Their original wedding date was December 4th 2020, which they stuck with, but a few months before they made the decision they were going to have a small wedding with immediate family & then save the big party for exactly a year later - December 4th 2021.
Luckily I was able to do an engagement shoot with Abbie & Ben which involved a heap of puppies - if you follow me on Instagram you will remember the photos! During the shoot, they revealed that they were expecting, so for their big wedding party, they would be a three!
Their official wedding on December 4th 2020 was extremely beautiful & special. Both myself & Rob, Abbie & Ben had just gone through the same family bereavement, so it made the importance of the day even more poignant. I spent the morning at Abbie’s parents home whilst they all got ready, then we went to the church where further guests were waiting. A few people were also standing outside the church to surprise them, but couldn’t come inside because of the restrictions. It was a gorgeous ceremony where I witnessed two people completely in love, who just wanted to become Husband & Wife. I then went back to the family home with Abbie, Ben & their immediate family. Abbie’s Mum had organised a private supper catered by Redhouse Barn, where the big celebration would be happening the following year. As it was very dark outside, we did a few family portraits in the living room before I left them to enjoy their delicious food.
Skip to exactly a year later, where it was a serious case of déjà vu for me, although there was now their baby girl Delilah & over 100 guests! We went to the same church, but this time a blessing was conducted as they were obviously already legally married. We then all went back to Redhouse Barn which looked beautifully Christmassy with Abbie’s dream styling of ‘Christmas at Hogwarts’. Music & entertainment filled the day & the atmosphere was contagious. I would’ve loved to be a guest at this one!
I’m so happy I got to be there not once, but twice for this incredibly lovely couple. You will see I have put some images next to each other - showing 2020 vs 2021.
